I was ecstatic when Michelle and Ryan reached out to plan a maternity session at Lake Louisa for their baby boy. I love working with this couple, they have a connection that is just so pure and sweet it makes my heart happy to capture their love.
This was our third time working together and they knocked the outfit selection out of the park. Michelle’s lace maternity gown is the perfect pop of color against the primarily green backdrop of Lake Louisa State Park. Ryan went with a neutral color top and contrasting bottoms to let Michelle shine; let’s face it she’s doing the hard part so she should the the focus, don’t you think?
We love shooting a Lake Louisa, it offers so much variety in one location. For this maternity session we used the waterfront area, as well as the pergola and sunset meadow. The weather was a bit overcast allowing us to use every angle of the park without worrying about harsh shadows. It also kept the temperature down which was great since we don’t want to overheat a Mom-to-be. The sun peaked out a few times, but it had nothing on Michelle’s glow. She is already such an amazing Mom and with Ryan by her side this baby is so very loved.
Once Michelle sent me a photo of her dress, I knew I had some items that would be perfect for a Lake Louisa maternity session. I brought along a crochet shall and an antique quilt to bring to their session. The antique quilt had the same pop of maroon from her gown and it accented the scenery perfectly. The crocheted shall softened the overall look added a touch of whimsy – that’s kind of our thing you know.
We cannot wait to meet Baby Li this July. Wishing Michelle and Ryan a wonderful few weeks full of anticipation, excitement, and of course, sleep. We love you guys!!!
